3) Why Choose Interlaken
The Jungfrau Region is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes that the country has to offer. Lakes, valleys, mountains, waterfalls, glaciers and more make up the area.
There are several different towns to choose from when it comes to where to stay. Some of these include Murren, Wengen, Lauterbrunnen, and Grindelwald. Each one of them has their pros and cons when it comes to why to base yourself in each place.

While the above are all great options to choose from, Interlaken is also a fan favorite. Essentially, to visit any of the areas in the Jungfrau (including all the previous towns mentioned), you must make your way through Interlaken to get there. You can think of it as the central hub of the Jungfrau region.

Convenience & Accessibility
Interlaken is the one town that is very well connected by train and bus to all other parts of the country (like Geneva, Bern, Montreux and Zurich). Like I just mentioned, you need to make your way to Interlaken first before getting further into the region.
By just staying in Interlaken, you simply can get off the train and walk right over to your hotel (or take a very quick taxi/bus ride).
In addition to that, Interlaken is well connected to the other towns of the Jungfrau region.
So, whether you want to spend time around Murren, Wengen, Grindelwald, or in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, you are just a quick train ride away.
You can easily decide to mix and match your days to visit various areas of the Jungfrau that are of most interest to you.
Not only can you visit other towns without much issue but you will also be able to visit the lakes, Harder Kulm lookout, and take part of other nearby activities.
More Options
When dealing with some of the towns further in the Jungfrau, you will find more limited options that are available. Some of these are just small car free mountain towns (Wengen and Murren) with a select number of hotels to choose from.
However, in Interlaken you will find a much wider range of options with something that should certainly work for you.

To build off of that last point, hotels in other towns will be pricier due to there being less supply. When it comes to Interlaken, you should have no trouble finding more price friendly options that could work well with your budget.
Surrounding Nature
Just because Interlaken is not in the mountains or valleys does not mean it lacks nature.
While Interlaken is a bigger town compared to the others, you will still find some great surrounding natural landscape.
On either side of town, you will have the two lakes of Thunersee & Brienzersee. These can both be visited by enjoying the lakesides or you can opt for a boat ride across them.
Behind town you will find Harder Kulm, which offers some fantastic panorama views from an elevated point. You can also take a quick train to Schynige Platte to get views of the lakes and mountains from the opposite side of the town.
